Sounding Type: Mix & Match
Date of Completion: July 2018
I have designed artefacts for the album ‘Mix & Match’ by LOONA, which consists of 5 songs in totally different genres, including Dream Pop, Dance Pop and R&B. And the overall feeling of the artefacts will be abstract and minimal.
The concept is to create circles with gradient colours that represent each song, and merge the English character ‘M’ into the shape, which represents the ‘M’ in the album title ‘Mix & Match’, by twisting the gradient colours in the circle.
On both the CD cover and 7 inch record, minimal typefaces will be placed around the side of the artefacts, which states the album title, artist and some short information. While the 200 words will be placed inside the CD wallet as the blurb of each songs, and all the text are in Europa—Bold.
As it is hard to print neon colours on paper, I wanted print them on holographic papers. However, since I cannot find the suitable holographic paper that fits my artefacts, I decided to use metallic paper instead, which gives off a strong shiny feel.
Lastly, in order to make the Spotify thumbnail interesting and fits with the other two artefacts, I made it as a GIF with holographic effect. I have changed the hue degree by +/-10 on each new frame, in order to make it looks smoother.
