Melbourne International Film Festival (ADAA 2018 Semifinalist)
Date of Completion: June 2018
This fictional project brief is called ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’, which students have to design a big and a small components for a festival that will be held in Melbourne. The aims are to think creatively across both large and small items, and explore the potential of big item as a powerful contribution to our contemporary visual landscape. I have been given this brief during my semester exchange in Monash University, and this project has awarded semifinalist in ‘Adobe Design Achievement Awards’ (Category: Commercial—Print/ Graphic/ Illustration).
In order to explore the potential of both items, I have chosen the Melbourne International Film Festival as the topic, and designed a poster as the big component and a double—sided postcard as the small component.
In the poster, I have shown the film reels in different country’s traditional pattern, with the background colour and gradient colour frame that resemble the sky of Melbourne.
The poster will be located around the street and malls as promotional item, and of course at the event venue as well. On the other hand, audiences of the event can design their own film reel with the postcard that hand out at the entrance of the venue, which they can spread their experience around the world.
