In the Loop: Frog & Paper Plane
DATE OF COMPLETION: April 2018
The storyline of my animation is a frog throws a paper plane and it returns from the back and lands on the leaf where the frog sits.
First of all, the ‘Staging’ technique has been used throughout the animation, where the frog stays at the centre of the frame, along with a simple light blue and turquoise colour in background resemble the sky and the pond. ‘Anticipation’ has also been used when the frog is preparing to throw the paper plane. This action also links to the ‘Squash and Stretch’ technique, where the frog’s arm has squashed when pulls back.
Moreover, the ‘Timing’ technique has been used, which the speed of both the throwing action and the floating paper plane on the sky have increased and decreased throughout the whole animation. While the paper plane is floating on the sky, two ‘Secondary Actions’ have been occurred on the frog. When the frog noticed the paper plane floating back, its eyes follow the paper plane, as well as the frog’s left hand moving back to the leaf after throwing the paper plane away. These techniques help to make the whole process looks more realistic.
